Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - After back to back losses to Patrick Cote and Jorge Rivera, Kendall Grove’s future in the UFC’s 185-pound division may have been riding on the result of Saturday night’s bout at The Palms against Evan Tanner. Subsequently, the Hawaii native put on perhaps his most disciplined performance as he decisioned the former UFC middleweight champion in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter Finale.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - In theory and in practice, reality television shows are at their best when the underdog rises from nowhere to win it all. Saturday night at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, Amir Sadollah completed his improbable run through The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest, submitting CB Dollaway a second time to win the competition and earn a UFC contract.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Middleweight Drew McFedries roared out of his corner at the start of his preliminary bout against Marvin Eastman Saturday night and he didn’t stop throwing until he had ended his opponent’s night, which came just 68 seconds into their bout at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - With no pro fights, and just a handful of amateur MMA and Muay Thai titles to his name, Richmond, Virginia’s Amir Sadollah probably seemed to be one of the easiest marks out of the 32 fighter field trying to squeeze themselves into 16 spots on The Ultimate Fighter’s seventh season.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - As a former All-American wrestler for Arizona State and the owner of a 6-0 pro mixed martial arts record, all eyes were on CB Dollaway as he began his stint on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs Team Forrest earlier this year, and when he began walking through opponents on the show, the glare of expectations got even more intense.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - Like Forrest Griffin and Joe Stevenson before him, Tim Credeur had reached the breaking point. Years of blood, sweat, and tears with little reward or a light at the end of the tunnel had pushed him to this point in 2006 where he was going to walk away from the sport of mixed martial arts.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - The stories are the same, even if the names telling them are different. Almost to a man, alumni from The Ultimate Fighter reality show have talked of the torture that accompanies six weeks in a house with 15 other fighters and no contact with the outside world in the form of phone calls, emails, television, books, or newspapers. To some, weekly root canal would have been an easier task. Now meet Matthew Riddle.

I started writing this blog well ahead of viewing the episode, hoping to capture the multitude of feelings I want to cover in my final installment. I want to first thank all of you who took the time to read my blog and say how much I appreciate all the feedback I’ve gotten. I look back pensively at what was no doubt the craziest ride I’ve ever been on in my life. Through all the trials and hardship, laughs and misery, I took a lot of life experience away from this show.
Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - When Amir Sadollah and CB Dollaway meet at The Palms in Las Vegas on Saturday night, it will mark the first finale rematch in the history of The Ultimate Fighter. But given the intense action of their first bout, there are likely to be no complaints from diehard fight fans in attendance or watching at home on Spike TV.
